Sheppard Descendant: Edward Hampton Moore, Sr: Edward Hampton Moore, Sr., 78, of Millville passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005, at his home, where he had been under the care of family and hospice. Mr. Moore was born in Millville and was a 1944 graduate of Millville High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served as a military police officer. For more than 20 years, Mr. Moore ran his own business as a plasterer, working on many new homes throughout Cumberland and Cape May counties. He later served as a corrections officer at the state prison in Leesburg, rising to the rank of lieutenant before retiring. After retiring, Mr. Moore was a volunteer at the South Jersey Hospital in Millville. In the 1960s, he served as a Cub Scout pack master and he also served as a deacon of the Central Baptist Church in Millville. Mr. Moore enjoyed cabinet making, photography and travel. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen (Davis); five sons, Edward Jr. and wife, Kathryn of Glassboro, Joseph of Pomona, N.Y., David and wife, Robin of Leesburg, Robert and wife, Candace of Millville and Gerry and fiancée, Tracy Dellius of Bloomfield; five grandchildren, James, Robert, Gillian and Joseph Moore and Tammy Rubart. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, David, Alan and Stephanie Rubart; and three siblings, Gordon Moore of Millville, Joan Kurtz of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Louella Surbeck of Clearwater, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Barbetti Funeral Home, 2104 E. Main St., Millville, where relatives and friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. |
