2009 DFA Reunion Notes:

At the 2009 reunion, Dave presented news on Dare Family research.  Here is a synopsis:

1. Devon Dare researchers have now traced their ancestry back to 1600, so it is hoped that soon we will find a common link, either through research or through DNA.

2. Australian Dares have traced their lines back into the 1600's in Southwestern England as well.

3. We have our first Dare DNA link that connects the descendants of Captain William Dare's son Robert to the descendants of his son Benoni Dare.  We anticipate more worldwide links soon!  To get tested, if you are a male Dare (or know one), go to: http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Dare

4. Update - We believe we have another match with a Warren Dare of England, whose oldest known ancestor is William Dare of Lyme Regis, England who was born in 1810!  (In 2011 we matched all the Southern Dares that trace back to Calvert County, MD!!)

5. The Dare Family Researchers group on www.genealogywise.com is growing steadily and provides a great forum for the sharing of Dare information.

6. The new Dare Family Association's Members-Only site has been established and invitations will be going out soon to members as soon as it nears completion.  To join, send your $5 membership fee to our Treasurer below.
